Around the Top 25: Sunday’s Results
G’morning, all. Here’s your quick sip of basketball-injected coffee.
–No. 5 Georgetown 87, Jacksonville 55.
Jacksonville’s nickname is the Dolphins, so you know that had no chance of winning on Sunday.
–No. 8 Washington State 72, Portland State 60. A breakout game for the Cougar (9-0) offense! The team hasn’t had a start like this since the ‘91-92 season and doesn’t appear to be in any mood to slow down. Aron Baynes was the stud this time for the team; 9-for-9 from the floor and 23 points.
–No. 25 Villanova 101, Temple 93. It maybe a long trek back to the days where Temple is the toast of the town in Philly, but they hung tough against a tough team. Scottie Reynolds led all scorers with 27; he will do this many-a-time this season. Going deeper into the box score: The game had 15 total steals, only three offensive rebounds and a combined 48 attempts from behind the arc.
Notable:
Creighton 90, St. Joseph’s 84. The Hawks are officially done as an at-large candidate, but could do a decent amount of damage inside the A-10. Creighton, on the other hand, is 6-1 and on their way to another 22-plus win season.
Boston College 81, Maryland 78. The Terps are now 6-4; BC is 7-1.
