Let’s have a good year, everyone. Here’s to a memorable March, too.
–No. 19 Clemson 87, Alabama 61. Alabama (10-4) seems to be a reeling ball club with the injuries they’ve suffered. It appears as though this team might be desited for an up-and-down campaign for the rest of the year. Clemson gets to 12-1 with the win, an impressive road one at that. Despite their single blemish, the Tigers only have an RPI of 42, but a few early wins on their ACC slate should boost that up in no time. ‘Bama? They’ve got Florida in less than a week. The Gators aren’t who they were last year, but a win over the two-time defending champs would be huge.
Illinois State 49, Wichita State 46. See ya, Shockers. Illinois State is the MVC’s hottest new accessory to The Tournament; the Redbirds have beaten perennial Mizzou Valley bullies Creighton and WSU.
Cincinnati 58, Louisville 57. The story here is David Padgett’s shocking early return to the Cardinals. The muscular senior had 13 points and four boards. Sorry, I would’ve brought you the news of this development, but it appears it was largely under the radar anyway in the Bluegrass State. Oh yeah, good win for Cinci, by the way. Much worse loss for the ‘Ville, who add another bad loss to their resume and now find themselves at an even more disappointing 9-4.
