Welcome Back, Big Monday

raftery-bill.jpg“Big Monday” returns tonight (meaning ESPN airs a Big East game at 7 ET and a subsequent Big XII game following it. BIG Monday! Get it?) and I’m rather enthused about it all. You should be too because the man featured right there—onions!mantoman!alittlekiss!—will be right in your living room alongside Jay Bilas and Sean McDonough, compilating the best announcing team in all of basketball today. (Gus Johnson and anyone else is a fraction of a second behind them.) I was going to delve into some of the best Big Monday moments over X amount of years, but then I remembered that I want to keep a girlfriend for the time being, so I’ve gotta be economic with my time. So, yes, you can now reserve your Monday nights for the college ball love from now until the Monday after Selection Sunday.

The games tonight:

Georgetown @ Pittsburgh (7 p.m.)

Oklahoma @ Kansas (9 p.m.)

You knew this was coming though…

Coach K clearly fearing for his life while sitting next to Majerus in that ad. Oh, how I miss that Goulet.

I only wanna hear Luther Vandross sing about college hoops… I flippin’ love a montage

I’ll take Goulet’s pipes any day of the week over the overrated OSM. Don’t get me wrong, I still love that corny montage as much as the next sap, but the song is a little weak…

That’s just because you’ve never had it sung for you… win a championship and you’ll want it played at your wedding ;)

I attended a D-III school. There is no song, just some leftover confetti from the homecoming game and a microphone pointed towards a stereo playing a scratchy version of “We Are the Champions.”
