From January through March, ever since I was in high school, I’ve been falling asleep (or trying to) during the midnight broadcast of ESPN’s college basketball game. Glad that tradition is back.
–UPSET–No. 16 Pittsburgh 69, No. 5 Georgetown 60. Coming off of the escape at home to UConn, many people are now claiming G’Town to be a bit of a fraud. Roy Hibbert managed 12 and 10, but was rather ineffective for the Hoyas, whose lone highlight was Jonathan Wallace’s half court buzzer beater. The real problem for JT3’s crew was their laziness on defense; Pitt was open for 3s left and right. And I was really impressed with the Pitt student section in this one. They showed up big time (like they almost always do).
–No. 3 Kansas 85, Oklahoma 55. I was talking with Marco from Storming the Floor shortly before this game began and I mentioned my hopes that Oklahoma would keep the game interesting until halftime. Yeah, they couldn’t even keep it worthwhile through the first under 16:00 timeout. So dominant, yet I still can’t put them better than No. 3 in my BlogPoll (coming tomorrow!). Oh yeah: Best start for this program since the fabled season where KU went down to eventual champion Arizona.
Notable:
Gonzaga 92, Pepperdine 57. Zags are now 13-4, but the only formidable test in the entire conference is St. Mary’s. Austin Daye (a name to remember) had 19 in the win for Gonzaga and Jeremy Pargo had eight assists and six steals.

Think ‘cuse has a chance next Monday at G’town? We’ve always managed to step up at the Verizon Center and we’ve got a lot of alumni here in DC, so I’m hoping for an upset (we need one at this point).
huskies…rooha!!!
BluJ…will you be at the game? I think ‘Cuse has a shot, but maybe the Hoyas were really awakened last night. Want to see how Syracuse rebounds from the WVU loss first before I can really make a prediction there.
Girts is coming down and we’re sitting in a box (bling!). Hopefully everyone else in the box will be cuse fans, but I have a feeling they’ll all be Hoyas… dirty dirty Hoyas.
oh… and UCONN… USUCK
listen bird, I’ll be routing twice as loud now for Georgetown after that comment…and get those smileys out of here nobody is smiling on this end
HUSKIES TRUE AND BLUE!!!
haha! I mean rooting
