I was about to call it a day and put down the computer for a few hours, but I stumbled across this hilarious story (read: saw it on PTI) about UCLA enforcing a stopgap to all fans at Bruins games who pester the greatest coach in the history of the game.
Said UCLA Coach Ben Howland: “I think it’s long overdue. When Coach Wooden comes to a game, it would be nice if people respected the fact he’s there to enjoy the game and not just sign autographs.
“Here’s a living legend and it’s something he’s done for years and years. I suggested this a year or two ago. He’s got to have a little more protection. He’d be there all day just doing that because he’s so great. He hardly says no to anybody.”
Dude’s 97!! I think he’s a ripe 63 in the picture above, but who knows. Anyway, it’s amazing he still gets out to the games, you know? Leave him alone and allow him to read his Daily Bruin and make Ben Howland sweat in peace, please.
