BlogPoll, January 30
Each week, a handful of us college hoops bloggers put together our own version of a Top 25 poll to make ourselves feel just a little more important (our tiny voices matter, too!). Here is what we have assessed, as a group, with any of the AP rankings that significantly differ from any of ours for each team set in parentheses and first places votes in bold. Obviously, if there are no numbers in parentheses, then our rankings match the AP voters’ or are within three voting points. And for the sake of putting the poll out mid-week, most voting is done as soon as Monday night’s games are finished.
This week’s emails had quite the debate on two things: Whether or not Mississippi State (who has beaten Florida) should’ve been ranked higher, along with Indiana’s high placement in the polls.
- Memphis–13–
- Kansas–3–
- Duke
- North Carolina
- UCLA
- Tennessee
- Georgetown
- Washington State
- Michigan State
- Texas
- Indiana
- Butler
- Wisconsin
- Drake
- Xavier
- Stanford
- Marquette
- Arizona (NR)
- Mississippi (24)
- Florida
- Pittsburgh
- Kansas State
- Vanderbilt (19)
- Southern California (NR)
- Connecticut (NR)
The three who just missed the cut: Saint Mary’s, Baylor, Oklahoma.

So glad Nova is finally out of the top 25 they have been the most overrated team in college basketball the first half of the season. Watch out for UConn they are the real deal with or without Dyson and Wiggins(Wiggins is definitely done if his tests come back positive). UConn is the best rebounding team in the country and with Thabeet anchoring that defense they have a chance to go far come March. Oh how that pains me to admit that.

UConn the best rebounding team in the country? I’d say it’s Memphis (they FLY to the rim), but UConn’s still pretty respectable and certainly in the Top 10. Also: this year’s UConn team pales in comparison to the ‘03-’04 team that was just ridiculously dominant on the boards.
