Around the Top 25: Thursday’s Results

bearhug.jpgUPSET–No. 9 Washington State, California . The highlights on SportsCenter were great. Nothing like that baseline camera angle for 30 seconds! Derrick Low made zero 3s on nine attempts. I mention this because it seems like Low is having quite a bit of trouble shooting the ball consistently this season. It also seems to be effecting the outcome on his team’s games. I don’t know about you, but I’ve got a fever, and the only prescription is more (Robbie) Gowgill. Oh, God that was horrible and I’ll be using it many times again this season. Cal gets a much-needed conference road win, too.

No. 13 Wisconsin 62 , No. 11 Indiana 49. IU is in the tank after their first back-to-back losses of the season and Wisconsin is again the soup du jour.

–No. 3 Duke 92, North Carolina State 72. How about everyone’s favorite whipping boy (Paulus) coming through with 22 in the win? In other news: Duke was losing this game by nine at the half at home against N.C. State, which is just ridiculous. C’mon, Dookies, you’re better than that. Hope not, though.

–No. 4 North Carolina 91, Boston College 69. I have to respect what Memphis has done, but Carolina looked like the best team in the country last night.

–No. 5 UCLA 84, Arizona State 51. I understand that UCLA is almost certainly going to be in more than half the country’s Final Four in a few weeks, but Arizona State cannot allow themselves to be manhandled like this if they want to be respected in the morning.

–No. 14 Stanford 65, Washington 51. Like it should’ve been.

Notable:

Notre Dame 81, Providence 74. The battle of the elitist private schools sees the school that Dana Jacobson hates come out on top. The Friars keep letting the opportunities slip away. Notre Dame is now a firm 15-4.

ASU is becoming more and more exposed. I always felt Sendek underperformed at N.C. State and never bought into the ESPN media telling us what we should’ve thought about him.
