Around the Top 25: Ohio and Texas Tuesday Results
The only thing that could give me greater disdain for Brett Favre is if he came back and completely blew up ESPN in doing so. In other news, my wireless network went down, so I wrote an elongated version of this, only to not be able to post it and lose everything. Delicious. Abridged version straight ahead.
–UPSET–Ohio State 80, No. 15 Purdue 77 (OT). Erin Andrews is the good luck charm these days and the Bucks get a win they definitely needed. It still doesn’t put them in The Tournament though, and there’s a game against schizophrenic Michigan State this weekend.
–No. 1 North Carolina 90, Florida State 77. Carolina playing to 1 seed form. I don’t see how they play out of it.
–No. 9 Texas 70, Nebraska 66. Texas has looked shaky in their past two games.
–No. 21 Marquette 67, Florida Gulf Coast 37. Great scheduling move Tom Crean? I didn’t even know this school existed.
Notable:
Mississippi 81, Arkansas 72. Watching this game, I wasn’t really impressed by either team, but it seems to me that both are on pace for March glory.
Virginia Tech 80, Wake Forest 50. Such a convincing win will definitely help the Hokies’ case, but the profile still lacks.
UNLV 59, New Mexico 45. A great win for the Lobos, who now can claim a victory in their four games against Vegas/BYU. I don’t think Vegas can play their way out of The Tournament.

I’m assuming that by “March glory” you simply mean both these schools are getting bids? Because I don’t see either of them doing much in the tourney if they get in. But that’s just me.

Does this year’s crop of teams indicate that the tournament will be haywire, with upsets that aren’t realy upsets happening. Or are we goign to see this really crappy teams like OSU and Arkansas just get smoked by slightly less crappy teams in the first two days?
