Like a small town high school game!
It’s going to be odd down in Atlanta today. All of those fans that bought tickets to the SEC tournament? Well, no more hoop for them. After the frightening happenings in the Georgia Dome last night, the SEC has decided to play the remaining four games of the tournament on the campus of Georgia Tech. They’re letting the only necessary people in: television crews; credentialed media personnel; players’ familes; … and bands and cheerleaders.
Yeah … how odd is that going to be? I understand the band; even they can get some energy going and serve a purpose amidst the circumstances. But conjure up that image in your mind of cheerleaders doing their thing in front of practically no one. What’s the point? I think that’s damn hilarious. Just don’t try and get any chants going.
So here’s what’s happening today:
- Kentucky and Georgia will play today at noon in the SEC quarterfinal game.
- Tennessee and Arkansas will play their semifinal game at 6 p.m.
- Kentucky-UGA winner will play
Tenn-ArkMiss. State around 8:30 p.m. - Winner of that game will play Tenn-Ark winner tomorrow.
So how about that? Two games in one day, just like you used to run it on the playground (when you’d run yourself ragged playing six games in four hours). I’m not sure how much of an effect it’s going to have on the winning team, but when they lose tonight, it’ll certainly be discussed. I actually think it will HELP Kentucky, because how could the committee not have any sympathy over their scenario?

It’d be great if we could catch this on television. Can you imagine if this happened during the actual tourney at a site without a second venue? Honestly, what would they do? Use a local, small college?
