I see the point. I think Memphis and Tennessee are very, very close when you look at their profiles. If Tennessee wins the SEC, I won't argue against them being the No. 1 overall. I just think that Memphis should be.

I dont believe Tennessee will make the final four, and I know that they won't be the No. 1 overall seed, but I think the committee often overlooks head-to-head matchups. Throw out all the numbers, all the quality wins, all the rankings, and look at what happened when the two teams played. Tennessee went into Memphis and beat the previously undefeated Tigers. To me, this is why they should be seeded higher. Of course, you counter with, well Maryland beat North Carolina, should they be seeded higher than the 'Heels? Of course not. In the case of Tenn-Memphis, these are clearly two fairly even teams that are among the nation's elite. Obviously, a team like Maryland who pulled off an upset victory isn't.

Tenn's best wins: Memphis, Xavier, West Virginia, Vanderbilt.
Memphis: Oklahoma, UConn, USC, Georgetown.

If Tennessee wins the SEC tournament, I'll acquiesce to them being the No. 1 overall, but no one actually BELIEVES UTenn is the best team in the field, right?

If Tenn loses today to Arkansas, why would they still be the No. 1 overall?

Memphis should NOT be the No. 1 overall. I dont care what the numbers say, but Tennessee beat Memphis on the Tigers homecourt. To me, there's nothing more the Vols can do to prove they are better than Memphis.
