They Gone: Lopez Twins, Derrick Caracter

Might as well keep track of who’s jumping ship. I know there’ve been a few more names that have also joined this pool, but I think it’s safe to say that these three dummies probably made the smart decision by becoming eligible for the NBA draft.

As much fun as it was to watch the Lopez brothers play, these guys still get jolly over talking Disney and breakdancing to Michael Jackson’s albums from the ’80’s. As for Caracter, the guy never wanted to be in college, will be a pity draft pick by some GM with a pipe dream and is a bust waiting to happen.

I’m hoping that I can still have the time to run this site in a few years, when we can catch up with Derrick Caracter, doing whatever he may be doing.

A few quotes from the subjects:

Caracter:

“I’m going to go back home to New Jersey for a little bit, and after that, the phones are getting cut off,” he said. “It’s time to get on my grind. All the doubters who feel I may not get drafted, well, I’ve been doubted my whole life, so that’s nothing new.”

Robin (the one with the big hair):

“This has been a very difficult decision for me because I really enjoyed my two years at Stanford,” Robin Lopez told the AP. “I have always hoped I would have an opportunity to play in the NBA, and I feel now is the right time to make that dream a reality.”

Maybe I’m being old-fashioned and even a little myopic, Derrick, but shouldn’t you have been getting “on your grind” from the first day you walked on to campus and began receiving a free college education to play basketball? Wouldn’t getting “on your grind” during your college career have made you a much, much more attractive potential draft pick to teams than what you currently are?

    Or is that just me?

Caracter was a joke. I wouldn’t even qualify him as “waste of talent” because I think that would be an appraisal.

I’ve never seen the potential that so many others do.
