Well, a little distraction here and there for the Tigers will probably only continue to help Calipari’s “WE’RE GOOD AND NO ONE BELIEVES IT” schpeel. As much as Cal might feign frustration with inevitable intensified media coverage, he will only use this to further motivate his team.
According to WREG, a Memphis CBS affiliate, Allen failed a drug test (shocker!), so that’s why he didn’t fly with the team to Texas. Calipari hasn’t ruled out the possibility of Allen being available for Monday’s title game—if the Tigers get that far.
It should be noted that Allen once allegedly solicited a prostitute, back in 2006, but that case was kicked to the curb.
I do respect Calipari for laying down the law, but to me it seems as though the team has had a lot of discipline and morale issues the entire year (and in years past). Cal figured it was best to make an example of the seventh-best player on the team.
Will this have an effect on whether or not Memphis beats UCLA? Doubtful.
Tigers’ Guard Allen Suspended {Commercial Appeal}

The more I think about it, the more I can see this team winning a title just like UNLV did in the early 90s. One last scandal to put this team over the top!
who cares a total nonfactor….
