Instead of making a bunch of posts, here’s a hodgepodge of what’s been happening around college basketball:
-
Stephen Curry did what LeBron James did—attended the other’s game. Curry was at the Cavs game in Charlotte last night after LeBron stopped by in Detroit to watch the Davidson-Wisconsin game last weekend.
-
Jim Larranaga passed up on Providence (can’t blame him there) and signed an extension to remain at George Mason until 2014-15. Larranaga should remain a staple at the school, in my opinion. Some coaches don’t like his style, but it’s good to know that some of these eccentric guys don’t have to jump to a Big 6 school because of the fact that it’s a Big 6 school. Even more impressive: Larranaga is a graduate of Providence. -
Patrick Patterson, the Kentucky big man that went down with an ankle injury in early March, will be out at least four months after having his left wheel operated on yesterday. This is only good news for ‘Cats fans, who will have aspirations of at least a Sweet 16 next season with Gillispie comfortably nestled into the new job and Patterson back for his sophomore season.

Scott Morrison (Big Sky defensive player of the year) and Jeremiah Dominguez (player of the year), two Portland State guys that were thrown into a Mexican jail after allegedly beating up a man from Michigan, were released from said jail yesterday. The man couldn’t correctly identify the two, but the whole thing smells funny.

Darrin Horn, who brought Western Kentucky to the Sweet 16, is now the head coach at South Carolina. Here are other notable schools still looking for guys to blow the whistle during practice:
- Western Kentucky, Oregon State, Oklahoma State, Providence, Cal, LSU, Marquette and … N.J.I.T., who did not win a single game last year. Hey, I’ll be honest: I’ll take it!
