Everyone’s making a big deal over the fact that Ty Lawson, Danny Green and Wayne Ellington have decided to join Tyler Hansbrough for another year in North Carolina, making them a future universal preseason. The deadline for prospects to jump into the pool or stay another year out of it was yesterday at 5 p.m. Now that it’s come and gone, we can start to grasp the landscape of the upcoming season and make feeble attempts to handicap some of the “best” teams out there. The entire list of who did what is huge, but here were the most notable names that could’ve gone either way, but chose to come back to class:
- Robert Dozier, Memphis
- A.J. Abrams, Texas
- Darren Collison, UCLA
- Josh Shipp, UCLA
- Josh Carter, Texas A&M
- Chase Budinger, Arizona
- Ronald Steele, Alabama
- Robert Vaden, UAB
- Jeremy Pargo, Gonzaga
- Lee Cummard, BYU
- Jemel McNeal, Marquette
Fence dancers who leaned toward the Association:
- Ryan Anderson, Cal
- Mario Chalmers, Kansas
- Richard Hendrix, Alabama
- Bill Walker, Kansas State
- Darrell Arthur, Kansas
- Marreese Speights, Florida
- Kosta Koufos, Ohio State
Then there’s the sad/hilarious tale of Derrick Caracter, who withdrew from the draft after being one of the first to proclaim he was ready to make the leap.
Plenty of Draft coverage coming in the next two weeks. Stick around.
