One of my younger brothers and I are having this argument now. Coincidentally, he believes Curry is the best player in college.
Griffin has shed some pounds, added some beef and looks ready to wrestle with Hansbrough for Player of the Year awards. If Curry outshine Griffin last night, it’s only because of his name and not his game. Griffin put up Beasley-like numbers (25 points, 21 boards) and went 11 for 12 from the line and missed four field goals. He is a beast, and a fun player to watch. He could singlehandedly get Oklahoma to an Elite Eight this year.
Griffin’s true value will be tested alongside Hansbrough’s in this respect: Can he lead his team to a regular-season conference title? I think Griffin’s a top-five talent right now, and could be at the top of the heap come January, depending upon how well he dominates in the coming weeks. If former Big-XII stars Durant and Beasley are any indication, Griffin should be the next unstoppable man from the Midwest.
