I attempted to watch my Chicago Bulls last night. I gave up when it was 39-17, Blazers. I can’t watch more than 20 minutes of NBA basketball before April. (Some would say even that is extreme.)
No. 5 Michigan State 70, Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne 59. The Spartans, who I believe will, at the very least, knock on the Final Four’s front door, actually trailed in this game with about 10 minutes remaining. You wonder if Raymar Morgan can be a capable go-to guy.
No. 20 Wake Forest 120, UNC-Wilmington 88. Jeff Teague of Wake led all scorers with 31 points. Any time you can hang more than 100, you probably aren’t playing much defense. I get the feeling Wake Forest could fly under the radar all year long.
No. 23 Villanova 77, Niagara 62. Wildcats’ Scotty Reynolds (yes, he’s still there. No, he’s not that old) had 19. I hold a random belief: Scotty Reynolds is tougher than Tyler Hansbrough. ‘Nova won’t face a worthwhile opponent until inner-city foe St. Joseph’s in mid-December.
