It takes me a while to catch up with the trends. I discovered last.fm last night. Wow. Consider me obsessed through Christmas. I was on that site for three consecutive hours … and I plan on dedicating another eight today.
—UPSET— Syracuse 89, No. 17 Florida 83. There’s a guaranteed reaction, win or lose, from Jim Boeheim in every game he coaches. Hell, he probably reacts this way while ordering a bagel. Caught most of the second half of this one, and the team’s appeared to be of equal caliber. Florida may need some stability in the paint if it wants to make a run for 25 wins this season.
No. 2 Connecticut 76, No. 25 Wisconsin 57. Not going to lie, was hoping this one would be closer given the post below. Thabeet was most certainly a factor, and this looked like a matchup between a quick, conditioned Big East team and a traditional, pound-it-away Big Ten one. Wisconsin is not in UConn’s league. They might even be a bubble team this season.
No. 1 North Carolina 115, Chaminade 70. Surprised a D-II school (playing at home) only lost by 35 to Carolina. Hansbrough, rightfully so, sat this one out.
No. 6 Texas 68, St. Joseph’s 50. Texas is the popular pick to steal the Maui title away from the Heels. Well, how about …
No. 8 Notre Dame 88, Indiana 50. Notre Dame ending that talk later tonight? Harongody had a ridiculous alley-oop layup in this one. Indiana is a shell within a shell of what they were last year. They’ll be off the national radar for at least three years. Kelvin Sampson, you shady douche.
No. 19 Wake Forest 62, Winston Salem 31. It’s one thing to get doubled up, but to get doubled up by scoring only 31 points?
No. 22 Miami (FL) 80, San Diego 45. The Hurricanes took out their frustration from the UConn loss on the Toreros. Know it now: Miami is more than McClinton. Dwayne Collins, Cyrus McGowan and Brian Asbury all stood out last night.
No. 22 Kansas 73, Washington 54. Brockman was a non-factor. Cole Aldrich, however, was a beast. Still want to see what the Jayhawks are made of, but a 19-point win against a team with a lottery pick is impressive.
No. 24 Davidson 76, Florida Atlantic 60. Davidson doing the right things by picking off the smaller guys in preparation for the many tough out-of-conference games they still have remaining.
Notable:
Yale 53, Oregon State 52. Yep.
Oregon 92, Alabama 69. A close first half, then the Ducks completely separated themselves.
UNLV 80, Texas El-Paso 67. Runnin’ Rebels could be a worthwhile watch this season.
Jacksonville Sate 75, Massachusetts 74. Minutemen blow a five-point lead with 30 seconds to go.

I like Pandora even better than last.fm, mainly because I don’t really have any friends on last.fm.
Never heard of Pandora. Will give it a look.
