Eric Devendorf has been quite the “dynamic” player during his time at Syracuse. He was highly touted coming in, and fans hoped he would be a nice segue from the Everyplayer that was Gerry McNamara. Well, injuries and boneheaded actions off the court have prevented Devendorf from ever really becoming a positive facet to the Syracuse basketball program, and now he’ll be sitting it out — likely for the rest of the season. In case you missed why: Devendorf allegedly hit a woman about a month ago.
Devendorf was found guilty of violating the university’s Student Code of Conduct by a judicial hearing board, which sanctioned him with an indefinite suspension that will last for at least the rest of this academic year. Devendorf, 21, can appeal the decision, which removes him from campus for at least the rest of the academic year that ends in May 2009.
There is some speculation as to whether Devendorf will miss the rest of 2008, or if it bleeds for the entire year. Regardless, Devendorf is expected to appeal the decision and participate in ‘Cuse’s game Saturday against Long Beach State.

You can take the kid out of Bay City, but you can’t take the Bay City out of the kid. He’s been a constant disappointment as it is – no surprise here really. He’ll appeal and play through the process.
I don’t know how much Syracuse suffers without him. For everyone effective drive to the hoop, there’s a turnover to match.
