Also, the win is not that befuddling if you look at the coaching tree of the new head coach of UMass who comes with an impressive petigree. (Dont know his name) but he played at UMass during the hey day 90's under John Callipari and coached under Callipari last year who...lost to Kansas in the champsionship game. Consider it a revenge game.

Although I was more excited about this post before I had to jump through hoops to get registered, heres my thoughts on the A10 as a Rhody fan which is where i'll start.

I've seen URI play two times this season, once against VCU and another against Hartford. Although I would not be able to give a proper synopsis of the VCU game because of intoxication and just reacting to plays (I got yelled at, at this game, might be a good subject- ethics at a college hoops game) but was more observant at the Hartford game where I realized that Rhody's offense was not free flowing because of Jimmy Baron's ball hogging tendencies. The offense should revolve around Delroy James (the other guy who torched Duke) and until Jimmy Baron becomes a compliment to the offense instead of the focal point, I worry about Rhody. But I am hoping for Xavier to go undefeated when they meet at the Ryan Center January 15th.

Although I realized Xavier's greatness since I saw them play in person last year, hence why I picked them to the elite 8, I do not think they have the national recognition that they deserve. This is a very, very, good team that always plays under control and it seems that even in close big games, they seem like they are under control (See Memphis).

The other team that worries me in the A10 is Dayton especially after this:

If Chris Wright is healthy. watch out. Other Dayton factor is the size of their arena which holds one of the biggest crowds in the nation.

Temple worried me since i found out Who Dionte Christmas is during the A10 Tourney last year where they ended up winning to punch their ticket into the tourney which resulted in the Dayton snub. And gotta talk about St. Joseph's who played phenomenal (??) against Villanova, unlike Rhody, but you cant match the intensity of inter-city rivalry on a neutral court. Also, St. Josephs man down low(34) worries me has he was a force down low against Nova. All in all, the A10 is continuing to grow since they made the agreement with Atlantic City to host the Conference Tourney as Saturday served as a continuation of this growth process. Conference play just around the corner, cant wait!
