One more turn to make. It’s been a good day, but the only drama we’ve seen in the final 10 seconds came in the Clemson-Michigan game, and boy, did Clemson botch that. Will VCU prove nearly everyone right tonight? I hope not; I’ve got UCLA Sweet 16-bound. Duke-Binghamton intrigues me as well. And I need Western Kentucky to prove me right.
9:53: Odds Tony Kornheiser is awake for this game?
9:59: Duke already the beneficiary of five fouls. Bearcats decide to try the uphill battle early.
10:18: Little hiccup in the Internet connection and we’re back. Oklahoma is playing close with Morgan State, who seems to be a decent matchup with the Sooners. Is Blake Griffin going to realize he needs to start steppin up now or what? Duke’s on its way, leading 27-12. Still kind of shocked I put Duke in my Final Four.
10:25: Western Kentucky and Illinois are underway. UCLA going to try and muck this one out? That’s not the way to get the best odds on winning.
10:30: Binghamton has gotten to within seven.
10:33: So. Many. Games. You do lose a feel for the pace while trying to watch and keep track of all these contests.
10:36: For a bad rebounding team, Binghamton has turned it on. That said, it’s against Duke.
10:37: Have to give it up to these broadcasters, who are still going strong despite all these broadcasts. So much tougher than you think. … And we just got a “scrappy” from Nantz!
10:41: We jsut got our first classic Blake Griffin alley-oop flush Sooners up big … Virginia Commonwealth needs to stop gambling so much with its passing against UCLA’s D. Duke enters the locker room leading 45-34.
10:46: Josh Shipp gives UCLA its biggest lead of the game. And Jordan’s kid enters the game in Portland, as the Illini trail by eight.
10:50: Western Kentucky ALL. OVER. Illinois. 27-13. There’s no ‘Nova-like situation on our hands here.
11:03: We’ve only got something worthwhile in Philadelphia. At this point, I’m writing just to see how ridiculous this day will look from beginning to end.
11:10: Reminder, I’ll be at ESPN tomorrow, and I’m hoping to get in a few interviews. Should be an interesting experience, watching the games with Vitale, Digger, etc. I’m shutting down the computer and enjoying the last half of games with my eyes on the television before I catch the train back to Connecticut.
