No. 11 Butler 67, Northwestern 54. A season that began with legitimate hopes of a Tournament berth is likely going to be a long, lonely trip in 2009-10 for the Wildcats. Without Jeff Ryan and Kevin Coble, the team could be the worst in the Big Ten. Bulldogs get another Big Ten foe on Thanksgiving; they play Minnesota.

Oral Roberts 83, Stanford 81. Cardinal starts its season 1-2. Interviewed a kid who just signed his letter of intent to play at Stanford yesterday. But he’ll be bringing his golf clubs with him. The Pac-10 could get laughably bad for a major conference this year.
Western Michigan 83, Virginia Commonwealth 67. Wheels coming off that fast for the Rams without Anthony Grant and Eric Maynor? Broncos had 52 boards to VCU’s 37.
UNLV 88, Nevada 75. Liked the Rebels last year because they won almost all the games they should have. Nevada’s down, but still a good club.
