The Serbian senior was charged with felony assault Friday. He turned himself into police.
What does all this stem from? He was accused of the assault while at a concert in October. It’s the second brush with authorities he’s had; he was accused of being a little too rough with a girlfriend last year. Howland went with Dragovic down to the station when he turned himself in Friday, and he was suspended for last night’s Cal-State Bakersfield game. As of now, no decision has been made about the Pepperdine game Monday night. Howland’s going to talk with the press about the long- or short-term punishment the repeat offender is going to face.
Dragovic should probably have to sit out three or four more games, in my opinion. Physical abuse (more than one incident, to top it off) can’t be tolerated. Those alpha personalities can infect a locker room. Dragovic could be cold; could be charming as can be. But Howland needs to send the message that violent tendencies can’t be tolerated.
Dragovic is the only returning starter from last year’s team.
