No. 7 Kentucky 94, UNC-Asheville 51. Wildcats fans: Why was this game played in Freedom Hall (Louisville’s home court) last night? Different night, different guy, different leading scorer. DeMarcus Cousins went for a career-best (all seven games) 24 points. As for John Wall, he broke a record: His 14 assists were a freshman record at UK. Looking forward to seeing Wall next week at the Garden.
No. 8 Syracuse 92, Colgate 58. Undefeated Syracuse beats winless Colgate. How many minutes of Jim Boeheim’s life has he spent watching his scrubs play against northeast cupcakes in November and December?
No. 16 Georgetown 83, Mount Saint Mary’s 62. There probably isn’t a more ambiguous team in the top 25 right now than 5-0 Georgetown. Greg Monroe went for 19 and 11. It’s likely he’ll have 25 double-doubles by the time he walks off the court in his last game. The double-double isn’t an impressive stat in college basketball, but it’s very meaningful on a long-term basis for a team that’s dependent upon its big man.
