Is there a need for this? Of course not! Is it another vehicle to use as an excuse to talk to myself? Of course it is! And this is actually the second podcast; the first one was more of a test run. You can search for it in iTunes, and I’ll have a link to subscribe to this largely inconsequential 20-to-30 minutes of audio every week up on the site within the next couple of days.
Topics addressed in a tone of voice that’s all too sleep-inducing:
— Jim Calhoun’s health and how it pertains to Connecticut’s coaching situation.
— North Carolina’s postseason chances and issues with injuries
— Purdue. Will it turn things around after the three-game slide?
— Interviews with Siena head coach Fran McCaffrey, along with Ronald Moore and Clarence Jackson. Yes, I’m getting all Andy Katz on this ‘cast.
— Evan Turner’s chances at winning player of the year.
Click on the link below to download, or search “College Hoops Journal” on iTunes and it should come up.
So, without further ado … here it is.

Whoa. This is a bit of a surprise. I’ll give it a whirl and let you know what I think.
Podcast
Good broadcasting voice – good diction and quality. Some people have weird voices that don’t translate well over to broadcasting (e.g. Bill Simmons), but yours is great. You’re clearly knowledgeable about College Hoops. It can be sometimes hard to listen to a monologue from someone you’ve never heard before. I’d be interested to see if you can get some guests throughout the show – I’m not sure how they’d call in, or how you record that to the podcast, but I’m sure someone does.
Great sound quality on the Siena interviews. Surprised! Good questions, and it was cool to hear from them, even though I have no affiliation with or emotional interest in Siena.
I’ll definitely keep an eye on this podcast, depending upon when I’m pressed for time.
The Dagger??
My two favorite features of CHJ blog are: Around the Top 25, and Dancing on the Bubble (look forward to it every year). Layup Line is good too, but I LOVE those other two. Read every word. Would you be moving any of those features to The Dagger? I guess I’ll find all this stuff out eventually, but was just curious.
I haven’t read The Dagger before. I love Yahoo’s NBA blog – a must read – so I’ll now subscribe to the Dagger as well. Will you be posting more here or there? What will happen? The only thing CHJ needs is more readers.
Seven, thanks for the kind words. I am going to try and bring more energy to the podcast, though. I did radio, and can inject more — just gotta knock the rust off.
Few things:
1 — I will not be moving any features from CHJ over to The Dagger. Around the Top 25 will remain here. Dancing on the Bubble debuts next week, btw.
2 — I’m going to be heavily writing for The Dagger in the immediate future, but the guy who they hired to be the editor of that blog will really take over in a couple weeks. Once that happens, I’ll post maybe once a day over there.
3 — I will not be lacking on posts/content here at CHJ
4 — I will not cross over any content, either. What I write for CHJ, stays at CHJ, and vice versa.
5 — My life is going to be absorbed by college basketball. It’s going to be great. My lady isn’t going to think so.
Great interviews of the Siena crew. Glad to see the attention!
