Players and fans watched in shock Saturday night as Samford University’s winningest coach had a seizure next to the scorer’s table.
Jimmy Tillette, who is 59, was immediately tended to by UNC-Greensboro’s training staff, which brought him to the training room before an ambulance promptly brought him to Moses Cone Hospital.
Players and fans remained silent in the immediate aftermath of the incident.
“Approximately, 10 minutes into the second half of Samford’s game at UNC Greensboro, Tillette suffered a seizure on the sideline next to the Bulldogs’ bench. Both athletic trainers immediately responded and began treatment. He was then preliminary taken to the UNCG Training Room where they worked on him until the ambulance arrived.”
Jeez. What a scary moment, and we’ve already had enough of them to last more than a season this year.
Tillette is doing OK, reportedly, but it’s unclear whether or not he’ll be able to coach in Samford’s game Monday against Furman.
