Can Devan Downey and the Gamecocks do to Kentucky tonight what UK did to Florida some years back? (AP)
And here’s my faulty reasoning.
Remember when the University of Florida basketball program received its first No. 1 ranking some years back? (My God, I can’t believe it’s been almost seven years.) It was big news at Florida. The team was on a high. That week, ESPN was broadcasting Florida walking into Rupp and trying to prove its worth against one of the most storied programs in the history of the game.
And Kentucky freaking routed the overachieving Gators. It was epically ugly.
Tonight, UK goes into The Colonial Center. It’s not the same kind of situation, but this is a young team playing its first game as top dog. The bull’s-eye is now on UK and UK alone.
The Gamecocks are clearly desperate, having dropped three straight. Devan Downey could be a great foil for John Wall. Just throwing this out there. We’ll see.
As for Michigan State losing, how about Manny Harris being a big factor and proving a point after getting embarrassed by sitting out a game due to indiscretions in practice. The Spartans are due for a loss any day here, and this game is on the road. Michigan’s defeated Connecticut and a Evan Turner-less Ohio State on its home floor.
Enjoy the games tonight, folks. There are quite a few good ones.

You were almost there on both predictions!
