So is this the “last” interview? Because I thought this one was.
The drama seems to have come to a definitive end in Minneapolis.
And I am not talking about Brett Favre.
Royce White said he’s forcing himself to drop out of school because there’s a great amount of insecurity he has with the police at the University of Minnesota.
The Star-Tribune has video of White as he exited the court house this morning. There’s some candid stuff in the exchange with the media. Here’s a few excerpts.
I’m disappointed in how it turned out today. That’s it. … I think I’m probably going to withdraw from the University of Minnesota this week … I don’t feel safe … on campus, ’cause I really feel the police don’t have to answer anybody, so it makes me wonder what they’ll be allowed to do. … I feel they dealt with the situation irresponsibly.”
When asked if he would transfer to another to university.
“Nope. I haven’t decided any of that.”
What would it take you to not leave at this point?
“Nothing.”
Did White steal laptops? Who knows. The details of the meetings behind closed doors won’t be known for a while now. We do know that White and his lawyer (who’s paying for that lawyer, by the way?) want a trial and they’ll get an answer for that in eight days.
Now Minnesota has to reassemble yet again and figure out who the hell will be in the starting lineup come Saturday’s game against Penn State.
When discussing the biggest busts in 2010, Minnesota has to be near the top. What a tire fire.
