Much props to my colleague, Jeff Eisenberg over at The Dagger, for getting this on Super Bowl Sunday.
Zip ahead to the 2:20 mark of the video below. It seems rather obvious that Murray State’s Isacc (no type there, folks) Miles does not release the ball before the horn or the light goes off. Another good view comes in just after the four-minute mark.
But the officials blew it, and the Austin Peay coaches knew it.
Does the size of the venue and Murray State’s bloated record have anything to do with the stripes’ decisions? I think it factors in, even if slightly. It was a close call, but a clear one, too, I think.
The Racers (22-3) still haven’t lost a game in the middling Ohio Valley. At-large hopes are slim and would’ve been surely eliminated if this one went Peay’s way.
The Racers have a W they shouldn’t. The basketball gods aren’t through with them yet.
