Maryland police in trouble after video surfaces of unprovoked abuse

And the yang to the previous post. This is some serious stuff, and it’s more than a month old.

Remember back when Maryland defeated Duke on that Wednesday night near the end of the regular season? It was a huge win for the Terrapins. It all but locked up a Tourney bid and an ACC Player of the Year award for senior Greivis Vasquez. Terps fans took the streets in delight — though some couldn’t control themselves and had to be put into handcuffs.

Now, you kind of wonder how legitimate all those arrests were.

Because this video is sickening. Yet another reason why people hate cops. For all the tremendous good the vast majority of men in uniform do, two or three of these kinds of videos come to light each year and give law enforcement a bigger black eye than what’s delivered in each said video.

Watch below, as police officers go after John McKenna, 19, who skips his way down the street away from the frenzied crowd and into a posse of police. Maryland’s “finest” attack him with the ferocity of velociraptors on a calf.

Gentleman (actually, none of the abusive parties in the video deserve that word), keep order and keep the streets safe in the wake of a big win a college campus. Young men and women are the ones who are expected to be doing dumb things, perhaps lapsing into abusive tendencies. NOT THE GUYS WITH THE WEAPONS.

Just terrible. And what’s worse, the police lied about it. McKenna was wrongfully cited as “inciting a crowd” and causing “minor injuries” to the horse(s) the police were on.

Absolute cahoots.

Absolutely intolerable.

Absolutely despicable.

Everyone who lifted one limb out of malice should be out of a job. That’s not serving a community; that’s disrupting society and boorish, lack-of-a-frontal-lobe, Neanderthal-esque behavior.
