College Hoops Journal was created in November of 2007 by Matt Norlander. He is the sole provider of content to the site and posts new content every day throughout the college basketball season. Norlander graduated from Western Connecticut State University in 2005 with a degree in journalism and has worked in sports writing in a professional capacity since 2003. He is currently the sports editor for two weekly newspapers in southwest Connecticut and has written for USA Today and Bleacher Report.
The site aims to blend blog and the traditional news format to create a place where college basketball fans can visit to get a bit of everything they like: video, editorial, game scores and recaps, links to other trending topics, weekly previews of marquee games, etc.
