Blake Griffin Set to Announce His Decision to Go Pro in a Couple Hours

Blake Griffin Set to Announce His Decision to Go Pro in a Couple Hours

(UPDATE: Yep. He gone!) The consensus Player of the Year will hold a press conference at 3:30 ET today to let the world know he's talked with his family, had a hard time with this decision, but, ultimately, after speaking with Coach Capel and those close to him, it's time to move to the next chapter in his life. He will be thanking his brother, the University, the coaching staff, his teammates, ... Read More

Self and Griffin Take Home Awards

Self and Griffin Take Home Awards

Didn't get to squeeze this in yesterday, but Bill Self and Blake Griffin took home the AP awards for Coach and Player of the Year. Griffin was a unanimous vote — the first time that's ever happened. Glad to see the voters did it right this year. Griffin will be taking home every kind of player-of-the-year trophy there is to offer this season, and he deserves it. He had 504 rebounds, shot.65 ... Read More

2008-09 AP All-America Team

2008-09 AP All-America Team

Three of the five members from the presason All-America team made it through to the end; Luke Harangody and Darren Collison were such underachievers. So here are the top five players in the country, according to the Associated Press' voters. Blake Griffin. No-brainer. Griffin was the only unanimous selection, which speaks to both just how damn good he is and the evenness of play beneath him. Griffing easily averaged a double-double ... Read More

Blake Griffin: The Best Player in the NCAA?

Blake Griffin: The Best Player in the NCAA?

One of my younger brothers and I are having this argument now. Coincidentally, he believes Curry is the best player in college. Griffin has shed some pounds, added some beef and looks ready to wrestle with Hansbrough for Player of the Year awards. If Curry outshine Griffin last night, it's only because of his name and not his game. Griffin put up Beasley-like numbers (25 points, 21 boards) and went 11 ... Read More

Goins’ groin shot on Cousins

Goins’ groin shot on Cousins

Published On Saturday, March 13th 2010

I get the feeling SEC coaches have purposefully gone after Cousins to try and get him to snap. That's not to say I think Bruce Pearl directly told Goins, "Hey, if you get a chance, throw a fist into DeMarcus' crotch," but I don't think coaches have shied away from telling their team that he's a hot head who will crack if you give him reason to.

Another weak, only-verbal punishment, this time handed out by the WAC

Another weak, only-verbal punishment, this time handed out by the WAC

Published On Wednesday, March 10th 2010

You know, I'm not saying we have to fine coaches every time or make them sit out a game, but now we're starting to see a bit of an unwanted pattern with coaches being "punished" by way of a short-but-sweet press release put out via said coach's conference Web site.
