Tiny Gallon sends out the decade with a bang

Tiny Gallon sends out the decade with a bang

And the first post on CHJ in the new decade deals with something I wasn't quite sure, due to advancements in technology, we'd ever see again. The ironically, aptly-named Tiny Gallon caused many a text to be sent (at least to me) after he broke the backboard during Thursday night's Gonzaga-Oklahoma game. I'm pretty sure CHJ is the first site to have this video up and going, but if you're seeing ... Read More

Tisdale Left His Mark in Two Worlds

Tisdale Left His Mark in Two Worlds

It's sometimes impossible to ignore the symbolism in life. As one great Oklahoma Sooner prepares to enter into a life in the spotlight of the NBA, another, who stepped away from it some time ago, has left the mortal coil. After a battle with cancer, Wayman Tisdale died, as you've heard by now, Friday morning. I never got to see Wayman Tisdale play. But he's one of those college greats who you just ... Read More

Blake Griffin Set to Announce His Decision to Go Pro in a Couple Hours

(UPDATE: Yep. He gone!) The consensus Player of the Year will hold a press conference at 3:30 ET today to let the world know he's talked with his family, had a hard time with this decision, but, ultimately, after speaking with Coach Capel and those close to him, it's time to move to the next chapter in his life. He will be thanking his brother, the University, the coaching staff, his teammates, ... Read More

Sweet 16 Preview: Oklahoma-Syracuse

Sweet 16 Preview: Oklahoma-Syracuse

What to Look For: Everyone's been talking about Syracuse's zone as if it could cause this big conundrum for Oklahoma. Perhaps these people haven't seen this zone fail to the point where Jim Boeheim went — gasp — man-to-man for 15-minute stretches this season. I'm looking at how well Arinze Onuaku and Rick Jackson play against the Griffin brothers, who have this tag-team WWE feel to them. And that's a ... Read More

Time For Schools to Whore Themselves Out to ESPN

Time For Schools to Whore Themselves Out to ESPN

Let's be real: ESPN put its cameras behind the bubble team that is the Oklahoma Sooners with the perception that they'd beat Nebraska and have a nice little piece of video to show how a team really comes together amidst the craziness of this month. Well, Oklahoma lost, and it makes for a much better segment. It's a few days old, but it's a good watch. Jeff Capel looks an eventual ... Read More

The Student Section Supports: Oklahoma @ Baylor

The Student Section Supports: Oklahoma @ Baylor

For those new to the site, this “The Student Section Supports” segment takes a look at one specific matchup that has the potential to either be a surprising upset or an extremely tight game between two evenly matched teams. Generally speaking, this segment will steer clear of the top, marquee matchups due to the fact that there will be plenty of press about those games anyway. Here's what ... Read More

Goins’ groin shot on Cousins

Goins’ groin shot on Cousins

Published On Saturday, March 13th 2010

I get the feeling SEC coaches have purposefully gone after Cousins to try and get him to snap. That's not to say I think Bruce Pearl directly told Goins, "Hey, if you get a chance, throw a fist into DeMarcus' crotch," but I don't think coaches have shied away from telling their team that he's a hot head who will crack if you give him reason to.

Another weak, only-verbal punishment, this time handed out by the WAC

Published On Wednesday, March 10th 2010

You know, I'm not saying we have to fine coaches every time or make them sit out a game, but now we're starting to see a bit of an unwanted pattern with coaches being "punished" by way of a short-but-sweet press release put out via said coach's conference Web site.
